Refund Policy

Refund Policy

Effective: April 30, 2026

Summary

  • Monthly: 7-day free trial. After the trial, all charges are final.
  • Yearly: 14-day free trial. After the trial, all charges are final.
  • Lifetime: 14-day refund window from the date of purchase. After 14 days, the sale is final.

Free trial: monthly and yearly

On monthly and yearly plans, your payment method is collected at signup but no charge is taken until the trial period ends. You can cancel during the trial through Paddle's customer portal (linked from your confirmation email and from inside the Haiku app), and no charge will be taken.

If you do not cancel, the first charge is taken automatically when the trial ends. That charge is final. Cancelling after the trial stops future renewals but does not refund charges already taken.

Lifetime: 14-day refund window

Lifetime is a one-time charge of $249.99, taken at checkout. Paddle does not support free trials on one-time products, so lifetime is backed by a 14-day refund window instead.

To request a refund, email vdpbot@gmail.com within 14 days of the charge with the subject line "Lifetime refund request" and the email address used at checkout. Refunds are processed through Paddle within two business days and typically appear on your card within 5 to 10 business days, depending on your bank.

After 14 days, the sale is final.

Charges that are not refundable

  • Monthly or yearly charges taken after the trial, including auto-renewals.
  • Lifetime charges more than 14 days after the date of purchase.
  • Charges where the customer stopped using the app or changed their mind without contacting us in time.

Mistaken or unauthorized charges

Charges taken in error — duplicate charges, charges after a successful cancellation, or charges on a payment method you did not authorize — will be corrected on any plan, regardless of how long ago the charge occurred. To report one, email vdpbot@gmail.com with the subject "Billing error", the email address tied to your account, and the Paddle transaction ID from your receipt email.

This is a correction of a billing mistake, not a discretionary refund.

After a refund

  • The license is revoked. The Haiku app returns to the license-gate state on its next online check, or at the end of the offline grace period, whichever comes first.
  • Local data on the device (contacts, message history, notes) is not modified. To remove it, delete the app and the data folder at ~/Library/Application Support/Haiku.
  • Paddle retains the customer record where required by tax and anti-fraud obligations.

Cancellation

Cancelling a subscription stops future charges. It does not refund charges already taken.

  • Monthly and yearly: cancel anytime through Paddle's customer portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Full access is retained until that date.
  • Lifetime: there is no subscription to cancel. The license is yours indefinitely unless a refund is requested within 14 days of purchase.

EU and UK consumers

Consumers in the European Union and the United Kingdom have a statutory right of withdrawal of 14 days from the day the contract is entered into for digital services, under the Consumer Rights Directive (EU) and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 (UK). Where this right applies, it overrides anything to the contrary on this page.

By starting Haiku and getting immediate access to the service, you may be deemed to have requested immediate performance, which can lead to the loss of the right of withdrawal once performance has begun. Whether that applies depends on your jurisdiction and the consent collected at checkout. Nothing here limits your statutory rights.

To exercise a statutory withdrawal right, email vdpbot@gmail.com with a clear withdrawal notice including the email address you used at checkout.
